Samsung SyncMaster 757mb refresh rate problem.

So. I have a Samsung SyncMaster 757mb . It supports 1024x768@100Hz but it stays 85hz and i can't increase that. Please help me by explaining how to set refresh rate to 100hz.

    Thanks.

    Sorry for my poor english.

First of all, why do you need a vertical refresh rate of 100 Hz? Anything over 60 Hz or so is comfortable for continuous 8 hour viewing. Second, are you sure that both the moinitor and your video card will support 1024x768@100Hz? The Samsung website says that the 757MB will support 50 - 160 Hz vertical but the maximum resolution of 1920x1440 can only be achieved at 64 Hz or less.

All that said, you can change the refresh rate by running the command "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg", from a full screen console. You can get to a full screen console by typing Ctl-Alt-F1, and logging in with your username and password. After running dpkg-reconfigure, logout of the console by typing "exit". Type Ctl-Alt-F7 to get back to the graphical user interface. Then restart the xserver with your new configuration by clicking on the red on/off switch in the bottom panel and then clicking "End Current Session".
