    changing sound cards

OK, the sound card that came on my motherboard has stopped working a LOOONG time ago when I was on windows, so I put in a sound card that worked. After installing kubuntu on the hard drive though, I have no sound. The reason is that it is trying to use the built in one on my motherboard. When I start up Kmix, I see that I have my two sound cards to choose from in the list beside "mixer:". I choose the ensoniq AudioPCI card, but alas when I restart my computer, there once again is no sound and when I look at kmix, the card chosen is the Intel ICH5 once again. Can someone help me permanently change it, I don't care what I have to do in konsole or anything, I just really really want sound.

go into the bios of the pc. look for sound or intergrated sound or something along those lines and you should beable to turn the onboard sound card off that way save reboot than continue as you were
