    Mount parameters for DVDs

    Hello,

I've found various parameters for mounting DVD drives, and they all seem to work more or less. But sometimes they don't, or sometimes I have to go into a terminal and "sudo eject" to get them to open again. It's all a little fastidious. So ...

Is there any reason that I have to mount DVDs? Can I still play them/copy them if they aren't mounted?

If I do need to mount them, what are the best parameters?

    Thanks for any info

    Mark

Hmm - I don't need to mount (kde does it when i want).

    When i put dvd in:

video dvd - kde puts icon to the desktop > right click > option dialog (play with, eject ...)

data dvd - kde puts icon to the desktop and new media pops up > What do you want to do ? (open in new window, do nothing ...)

KDE settings for CD/DVD/whatever (What to do with media)
System Settings > Storage Media ->Medium types: ...

I have in the /etc/fstab line:

    Code:
    /dev/hdc /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,atime,noauto,ro,dev,exec,suid 0 0
