No sound with USB Webcam with microphone

    Hi all,

I have a Logitech Orbit webcam with a built in Micrphone. If the webcam is connected when booting, the system wants to use the webcam as the audio instead of my soundcard. Without the webcam connected the soundcard is used, and works even after reconnecting the webcam. Any ideas on this so I don't have to keep unplugging and re-connecting my webcam? Thanks in advance.

This is on Kubuntu 6.06 LTS

I had the same problem with my webcam, and this seems to work:

Ubuntu 11.04, Kubuntu 11.04, and another TBD

Thanks for that. I gave it a shot and no dice. Actually editing the file in that thread, the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base had no effect on it whatsoever. My card is a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS, so uses the snd-emu10k1 driver. Setting that to an index of 0 had absolutely no effect on the situation.

Experimenting I found that after initial install it works fine, though it breaks when updating the kernel to the latest using adept updater.
