    Setting up modems

I am a new Kubuntu user and am soooo impressed. I am however struggling to get my windows befuddled head around some of the ways of doing things in Linux. I need help!

I cannot get my computers to see their modems. My laptop has a network line and connected to the internet immediately - but when I use it at home I need to log on via modem - any advice? On my desktop at home I have loaded kubuntu instead of windows - need help setting up modem.

Also how do I setup network connections and will my computer see windows workstations?

    Re: Setting up modems

Is you modem an internal or external device. It may be a so called winmodem which may not work under Linux. If it is external run kppp. For networking with Windoze computers you need to install Samba. I find that installing and running smbrowser works well for browsing Windoze shares.
