Hello Forum user!
First time poster here. Let start by saying I think all the *buntu's* are fine disto's and I have had nothing but a good time using them. Up until now I haven't had any issues with hardware or anything. That is until I bought this little Acer Aspire SA80 with an Acer LCD widescreen monitor. I got it home, hooked it up, slapped kubuntu on it to find that the intergrated SiS graphics doesn't support the native resolution of the monitor! So I open the box, notice a 8x AGP slot and head back to the store and pick up a Nvidia FX5200. I bring it home, slap it in, get the right res and figure, why not install the binary drivers! Having used the wiki how to on my other desktop ...I thought, WHAT A SNAP!
Well, after I followed the wiki once again and got everything installed, I rebooted. Thats when I noticed, something wasn't right. I saw NO NVIDIA LOGO! I checked for the module, and its there, as you can see below.
nvidia 4550772 12
i2c_core 21904 2 i2c_acpi_ec,nvidia
agpgart 34888 2 nvidia,sis_agp
so I'm stumped!, I tired to blacklist the sis_agp but that didn't work....I'm thinking maybe agpgart might be the issue? Anyone have this issue before that might be able to give me some advice?
I have included my lspci output so you can get a sense of the system and I can post up xorg.conf's and such if needed. Oh one other thing, when I cat /proc/drivers/nvidia/agp/status....it says disabled.
Once again, thank you for the help in advanced, if I can get this going, I will be a happy man!
