Display, Fonts? Cleaning up display?

Just installed kubuntu amd64 6.0.6.1 on my laptop
with a 15.4 inch Widescreen Ultrabright WXGA TFT
what would be a good font and resolution, I notice, that some fonts seem funny not quite clear just a little off.

Resolution is at 1280 x 800 @ 60hz

I did not have this problem with ubuntu...

Is there a tweak needed? a better font
