HP nx6325 support? (in particular ATI x1150)

    Hi,

I've ordered a HP laptop (nx6325 with a Sempron 32 bit, NOT Turion 64 bit processor) and while I'm waiting for it to arrive I have to decide which Linux distro to install.

I was thinking flavor would make a difference, but as I did some reading it seems that I'll have to choose the distro that supports all the hardware...

    -ATI Radeon x1150
I think the main problem here is that ATI's support for the radeon 1k series comes with the 8.24 drivers and later, but currently only the 8.10 are available for Ubuntu, correct? The ATI drivers also have issues with xorg 7.1 if I'm not mistaken.

    -Battery and Processor scaling
As far as I know problems were fixed with kernel 2.6.17 and later

    -Wireless
I'm not sure if the issues are confined to Amd64 builds

    -Fingerprint sensor
Though not important it would be nice to actually work

    -SATA drivers
    ...I'm just checking...

I've been using Gentoo linux for almost 2 years now, but I decided to look for a distro that requires a bit less constant tinkering (it gets old for me after a while). But since my hardware is fairly new I do need a distro that releases the drivers as fast as possible. When can I expect the proper ATI drivers to be released and are there any other known problems to be fixed with some of the other hardware?

    Thanks in advance
Working...
