Please do not use the CODE tag when pasting content that contains formatting (colored, bold, underline, italic, etc).
The CODE tag displays all content as plain text, including the formatting tags, making it difficult to read.
thanks for your help proteus71, i did try your suggestion and received an error message. i scrolled through the available pkgs on synaptic and downloaded some audio pkgs. i have audio now, not sure what worked. i'm still learning linux and kubuntu, it's a process and i'm having fun. thanks for your response.
