help - screwed up display adaptor settings!

I had kubuntu up and running just fine, then I selected a display package that my hardware won't support and didn't find it out until I tried to log back in ...
I can access the command line from recovery mode, but don't know any sudo commands to reset the driver package back to the standardly installed one ...
Can anyone help, or do I have to re-install AGAIN ?
