I'm having big problems getting Kubuntu to communicate with my printer via the network. I have 3 machines 2 running Gentoo and one running Kubuntu. The printer an Epson photo stylus 870 connected to one of the Gentoo machines via the USB port. The other Gentoo machine can print perfectly to the printer accross the network. However I can't get the Kubuntu machine to communicate with the printer at all. First of all in the kde printer setup the network printer is blanked out. I tried setting the thing up manually by editing the files in /etc/cups. The printer is now showing up in the KDE print setup tool but it says it is stopped, which it is not, and I can't start it. Kubuntu just refuses to see the thing. What's going on?
