    Screen Resolution: To Little Realestate

    Hi,

I have noticed that Kunbuntu shows significantly less desktop than Suse 10.1. On the same computer with the same Nvidia drivers, and set to the same resolution (1280 x 1024). It is as if Kunbuntu is showing at a lower resolution than is being reported.

Any ideas what is going on?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

My 1280x1024 display is filled from side to side and top to bottom. I suspect that you've got a problem with the way your monitor or video card is set up in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. My guess would be the modeline but there are any number of possibilites at this point. If I were you, I'd start by running "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg". The best way to do that is to find the range of horizontal sync frequencies (most important) and vertical refresh rates for your monitor and then to use expert mode for the reconfiguration. Alternatively, if you have a copy of your Suse Xorg.conf file, just use the monitor and device sections from that file.

Usually it's a problem with the screen resolution or your monitor's horizontal and vertical rates. Try looking at this

      It helped me.
