    External CD burner

Ok, I have been using Ubuntu for some time now, and have loved it. A little Linux experience beyond that, learning as I go, ok with command line but use the gui if I can.

But, I have not ever used Kubuntu. I am interested in setting up a computer with Kubuntu for a friend but she would be using an external cd burner.

Have there been any problems with these types of burners with Kubuntu, has anyone had good results with them, if so what types are best, etc.? And any other info that you might have would be helpful in my mission to convert her to the Linux world.

    Re: External CD burner

I helped a friend back up his borked windows using Kubuntu live CDs. He has IOmega external DVD writer. All I needed was to plug DVD writer and fire up K3B. K3B detected the burner and I was ready to back up data.

So in my opinion, everything should work well..just try it out.. if you face problems, post it on this forum.
