can't get digital camera/usb mass storage working

hi folks, hope you could help me

i have a sony dsc-s600 digital camera.
i want to access the pictures on it via usb (since i don't have memory stick card reader on my computer).

dmesg gives:
[17180219.524000] usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 2

it's the same on my laptop, ohci_hcd replaced with uhci_hcd.

then after that line : nothing !
from what i've seen on other forums, i think a "scsi0:" line must appear and tell on which /dev devices it is bound.

can you give me some advice ?

Do you have digikam installed? It detects my camera automatically and is a very good program (IMHO).

Might not be the camera or driver problem. I had the same problem on an older HP Workstation. Fixed it by adding "noapic nolapic" to kernel boot options. Everything has worked fine since.
