Trouble using two screens with Dell Inspirin 6000

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop, and I have a second screen that I used via the VGA port to make the Windows equivelant of Xinerama. Now that I've switched to Kubuntu, I haven't been able to create a Xinerama effect anymore. Does anyone know how I would go about doing this?

In the KDE Control Center, I am always told "cannot test this configuration", and checking "Dual-head" doesn't change the display demo window like it should. I'm prepared to edit my xorg.conf file, but I haven't been able to find any guides that show me what to change. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I think that this page at the Ubuntu Community Help site will get you on the right path. It's gnome oriented, but xorg.conf doesn't care which desktop environment you're using.

Unfortunately, I have neither nVidia nor ATI, but an Intel integrated graphics chipset, which this guide doesn't cover. Is there another guide for Intel? I haven't managed to find one yet.

Strange, I have a Dell Inspiron 600 with a mobility Radeon.

Oops, I just noticed that you have a 6000 (I missed the extra 0). Sorry, for the inconvenience.
