New LCD dilema

I just got a BenQ FP93GX from newegg, plugged it into my box running kubuntu64. It was great, clear and sharp. I installed x86. still good. I changed the screensaver settings, things got ugly. Monitor is terribly pixelated and there are 3 verticle lines of distortion through the middle of the screen. I reinstalled 64 bit, problem is still there. Even on boot screens. Is my monitor bunk or am i not doing something right?

Check out your monitor's capability of "Auto Configuration". As my LCD used to do the same thing, until I enabled it to do an Auto Configuration. I don't know if this is on all monitors or what. Also, I know there are plenty of screensaver bugs out there, hence the reason I stay away from screensavers.

Oh wow, I just reread that you reinstalled and the issue is there all the time. It sounds like monitor configuration settings. You shoulding have a bunk monitor this quick.

It sounds like the monitors configuration is confused, thats all. My monitor will do that also at times and I only notice it at boot due to it trying to use framebuffer.

now i feel like a tool, played with the settings and something called ama fixed the whole thing... wow i was freakin out and not thinkin cuz i thought i just burnt $250

no need to be so hard on yourself, as it is always the little things that get us. I have done much worse, glad that you got it worked out though.
