    1280x960@85 on ATI 9600Pro won't work

I have an ATI 9600 Pro videocard and an Iiyama Vision Master Pro 400 CRT monitor. Both are recognized as such by Dapper Drake, and I have installed the latest drivers for the graphics card. However, the System Settings/Display menu will only let me select 59Hz as the screen refresh rate when I set my resolution to 1280x960. My monitor is capable of 85Hz. I've checked xorg.conf, and the correct display mode is present under both the "monitor" and "screen" headers:

    Code:

Can anyone explain to this Linux newbie what's going wrong? Cheers in advance!

    Re: 1280x960@85 on ATI 9600Pro won't work

    Hi,
    Try this:

    Comment (# before) these lines:
    modeline  "1280x960@60" 102.1 1280 1360 1496 1712 960 961 964 994 -hsync +vsync
modeline  "1280x960@75" (...)  in Section "Monitor"

Then delete (or option out) modes "1280x960@60" and "1280x960@75" in Section 'Screen"

    It should work.

    Here is my customized xorg.conf:

    Section "Monitor"
      identifier "Q995"
      vendorname "Plug 'n' Play"
      modelname "Plug 'n' Play"
      #modeline  "800x600@75" 49.5 800 816 896 1056 600 601 604 625 +hsync +vsync

The other default resolutions are deleted

      Re: 1280x960@85 on ATI 9600Pro won't work

      That did the trick, thanks!!

Any idea, though, why the refresh rate selection wouldn't work only on this resolution, while it works fine for other resolutions?
