    Complete system freeze

    Hi,

I've installed Dapper (clean install) and the machine randomly freezes without warning (often within 2-3 hours). Kubuntu Breezy worked without problems however.

I'm a bit lost in this linux world. Is there any log where I can check what was going on before the system crashed ?

I know I'm not posting any hardware references but I think they won't help anyway. I'd need any hint to start looking for the problem's cause.

    Thanks in advance,

    - Juan

Thank you for the link and the program name.

The system log shows the following info:

      Code:

        Re: Complete system freeze

This is hell on earth. At last -after two days spending hours on the problem- I'm now able to get hardware OpenGL with my video card. Firefox freezes after less than 5 minutes using it. It took me 3 days to get my wireless connection working (and now I often must restart it using ifup, ifconfig, iwconfig and dhclient). Kopete now and then tells me that there is a problem and closes the connection. I'm unable to activate DMA (using the wiki and the forums help) in my SATA drives and sometimes the system freezes for a moment (or two) after changing the desktop.

I'm doing my best to don't give up and try to learn with those problems, but really, a bit of help to figure out what causes the system crash would be great to continue solving the rest in a solid ground.
