SATA HDD with IDE CD-RW and DVD-RW dont work together

I have a SATA HDD installed with my DVD and CD-RW running off the IDE controller.

Everything installs just fine until I try and use the DVD or CD drives, in Kubuntu it sees them but I can not access them, in UBUNTU I can not even see them, It seems to be trying to assign them a scXX assignment and this seems wrong for a ide drive to me.

Anyone have any advice, or even a few tips as to how to troubleshoot this further?

Did you try to change them to hdc in /etc/fstab ?
