soundblaster pci512 rear sound

I have a really old soundblaster pci512 card that supports a 4.1 system. I can get the front sound working fine, but I can't get the rear output working.

Anyone have any ideas on how to enable this?

Have you tried typing alsamixer in console?
Press F1 to get help on the key functions and other screens.

Okay, it works now using the wave surround...but...now when I have wave surround up and turn down the main volume, the rear sound stays at the same level.

Is there a way to make the main volume (master) turn down both front and rear at the same time?

I can't answer that as I don't have that card to play around with. Hopefully there may be someone else who has it who can further advise. Glad you got the rear sound going though!
