pcmcia network and modem not working unless...

Hi when i but the pcmcia networking is not going up and my pcmcia modem as well I am using a xircom etherneth and modem pcmcia card.
but when i eject the pcmcia card and reject it then pcmcia goes up and ethernet find his dhcp server. The modem is still not found.
Lsmod gives modules are loaded of the xircom card
is there something that i can do so it also load at boot time and that networking and modem are up?

I suspect that your /etc/network/interfaces file needs some work. Can you post the contents, please?

It is not obvious from /etc/network/interfaces why the the card needs to be removed and re-installed before it is reecognized. The connection for the ethernet adaptor seems correct. The file, however, only mentions the ethernet adaptor. There is no entry for your modem. You may find some guidance on the Xircom site: http://www.intel.com/support/network/sb/cs-016866.htm
