After installing the realtek audio driver for my AC'97 658 integrated sound, the sound stoped working completely and kubuntu doesn't even detect any sound card anymore. How would i be able to revert back to the default sound driver ?

My guess would be to uninstall the realtek driver. That would depend on how you installed it. With a (K)Ubuntu package, a deb from the manufacturer, or something else? -

No, it was a ./installer, i reinstalled Kubuntu though so that fixed the problem.
