I am attempting to install Dapper on a HP 575 Laptop but cannot make it work with the built in 1400 X 1050 display. Dapper will work if I connect an external display and let it boot with that connected. The HP 575 uses a Trident Video Accelerator CyberBlade-XP adapter. I have turned off the hardware accelerator in Windows XP in an attempt to solve the problem but that didn't help. Do I need to change BIOS settings or something?
The failure mode when no external monitor is connected is that when Dapper gets near the place where is should be asking for user name and password, the screen goes all black except for 2 horizontal lines then gradually turns white.
Should I update the Trident Driver?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
