    Video Card Issues

I am using an ATI Radeo 7000 Video Card with my computer, and have recently switched out my monitor for a TV. The S-Video out works great with WIndows, but I am having trouble with Kubuntu. I have looked up giudes for resolving this issue, but find blockages. Every time I go to edit a text file in the system, it says it is read only, or I do not have sufficient privileges. I am the only one using this system, and find that reserving certain privileges from myself quite stupid. Please help in any way! Thanks!!

    Maybe this helps:

File Permissions / Editing Files that Belong to Root

    Before you edit, BACKUP !

Why there are dead links ?
    1. Thread: Please explain how to access old kubuntu forum posts

right click the file you want to edit, go to "Action" and choose "edit as root". put in your pw and you can make the changes with kate. make a back up copy before hand and then make your edits.
