    does linksys work on kubuntu

    hey guys im new to linux and kubuntu and was going to install kubuntu tomorow when my memory comes in for my old ibm thinkpad 770z laptop. the question i have is if the linksys compact wireless-g usb adapter is going to work on kubuntu and if it does how do i install it any help would be greatfull.

    please dont thjink im lazy either i did search for the answer but any links that might have had an aswer for me just would not load on my computer.

    well once you get the KDE desktop to finish loading on that relic (I have one as well, even with max ram in there it was unbearable to use , that was with Dapper). You may want to look at a version with lower cpu requirements, possibly xubuntu, which uses XFCE, a lighter desktop environment. And possibly Fluxbuntu, which I have not tried yet. Xubuntu was acceptable, until I tried to load up Firefox that is

    As for the usb adapter, assuming this is your hardware, you probably will have to do some work getting it to work:

    look down at the second user comment, it gives basic directions on what needs to be done
    It is not impossible, but it may be a bit daunting for the newcomer, unless you have a helping hand

    Kudos to newegg and their customers, they seem to have a lot of linux related user comments.

      thanks claydow i just got my ram and instaled kubuntu on my relic ill try that site and see what i can do ill let u know how it goes
