Kfind file content search not working

    hi

    a little help

i installed kubuntu both version 20.04 and 21.04 but "find" doesn't work. I tried to search inside some PDF, ODS or TXT files but it can't find words that are present inside.

some advice and thanks in advance

Not sure if Kfind even supports PDF, though even if it did, it would depend on of the file was created as a simple image of a doc, or the text is embedded in the file. That depends on how it was created.
However, using the native, and hated Baloo file search via Dolphin, after indexing has been done, I have zero issues searching contents, including odt and pdf, etc. I search file content quite regularly.
I do see that Kfind for me has the option to "use files index' greyed out., but I am using Baloo. Do you have the option available to you?

The BEST file search utility (IMHO) is Recoll (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recoll). Very light. Searches within files. VERY FAST! You have to let it build an index, which, depending on the speed of your processor (and amount of RAM) and size of your system, can take a bit of time, but afterwards, SUPER FAST RESULTS!!!

Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

PDF file are created with text embedded and Okular search engine finds the words correctly.
In Kfind i have activated the file index but the search doesn't work.
When i have some time i will start studying the situation , thanks for now.
