    [SOLVED] Konsole always opens maximized

    Kubuntu 20.10

I maximized konsole one time, now it always opens maximized and I can't find out how to reset konsole to open to a more reasonable opening size. (or the original default size)

I've googled and searched here without finding an answer. I suspect this is something simple, but the best I've found is the key combination Meta+pgup, only a temporary solution.

    Any idea?

Thanks Don. I've looked at every possibility I see, but I'm not finding the right answer. Thanks for trying.

There are several settings which can affect konsole’s initial size:
          1. Settings → Configure konsole → General → [?] Remember window size
          2. Settings → Edit current profile → General → Initial terminal size
          3. The general Plasma mechanism outlined above.

For konsole, I wouldn’t fiddle with #3, as this is cumbersome at best (for non-experts.)

For starters, I’d make sure to uncheck #1, then de-maximize the window, make sure there is a sensible size specified in #2.

If this doesn’t work, please come back here. Good luck!

Size is set at 756 x 560, Do Not Effect. I kept changing that setting, going down the list, testing, until I got to Force. That made it stick. Thank for your help guys. I have never needed to go into these settings for konsole before.

Anytime. I?ve been using KDE for 20+ years. It?s been mostly rock solid for me and others this whole time, except that sometimes (very rarely), a setting that you?ve never touched gets changed and then sticks for awhile. Really weird.
