    Calibre issues

    Hi everyone,
I am running Kubuntu 20.10 and have issues with the Calibre software.
Both the Calibre version from Discover, which is an older version, and the newest from the Calibre site produce the same problem.

Calibre is shown as an application in virtually all File Associations; e.g. image>bmp shows Gwenview --- Calibre.
On top of that when I run balena Etcher there is a field where you can choose to view some projects they have undertaken; pressing that opens Calibre .

Any ideas about the causes? Could it be xdg-utils playing up?

    Hi
I apologize that nobody has addressed your question before.

I run Calibre that I downloaded from the site: ( it is not in the repos) running Kubuntu 19.04.

    https://calibre-ebook.com/download_linux

I just tested what you posted, I right clicked on the following:

    jpg
    jpeg
    png
    gif
    bmp

I saw NO, please let me repeat, I saw NO "open file with" that suggested using Calibre.

I did try "open file with Gwenview" which was the first STATED option and it did not "sublink" ( I guess that is what you posted "Gwenviews --- Calibre" it just opened with Gwenview.

So, I can only state that your situation is not occurring on my installation and I have use Calibre for quite a while because I both interact with and produce "e-books".

As to Etcher, I have not used it.

So, again, I apologize that nobody addressed your question before and hope that you will pop back in to visit.
