    FYI it's not vinny's method , it's THE network method .
That said , it's always dependent on your network connection speed and the capability of you computer I have a resonable fast internet connection and fast CPU hyper threaded 4 core i7 that runs at 3.9GHz when needed and was on a SSD drive , so every thing happens fast .

it took me 2 hours to go from 18.04 to 19.04 to 19.10 .

but still I am sorry for your trouble as I did "sopbox" that story

I consider the trouble as a learning process. I have an i3 7th or 8th generation chip and 16GB memory, but the download connection in Peru is not that fast. I had to download a few things but with the btrfs @home subvolume saved I had less to do than I thought. I had a perfectly good 18.04 installation but got the idea to try to upgrade using the network method. Now my 19.10 installation is working fine, and I learned something new in the process.
