I have tried using the power settings GUI but I don't think the system is even paying attention to my settings. Can I do this via the CML and how? I hope this gets fixed in 19.10. FYI I tried the search engine but it failed me.

Just to remind users and devs that Ubuntu and its flavors have a long way to go to be as usr friendly as they should be.

What does xset q say in a konsole?
My 19.04 says (trimmed)
Code:Screen Saver: prefer blanking: yes allow exposures: yes timeout: 0 cycle: 600 ... DPMS (Energy Star): Standby: 0 Suspend: 0 Off: 0 DPMS is Disabled
There may be firmware (aka BIOS or start up) settings, perhaps called ACPI that are relevant on your hardware.Regards, John Little

It seems to be working now so maybe something got messed up and when I rebooted to check the firmware it must have gotten fixed. I use muon to update rather than Discover since Discover keeps getting bugged. Maybe they fixed that since the last time I checked but usually discover gets bugged every few months. Unfortunatly it's always a guessing game after an update via muon as I never know for sure when a reboot is needed or if it's just nonsystem updates, so sometimes things get messed up until I relize or guess that a reboot is needed.Just to remind users and devs that Ubuntu and its flavors have a long way to go to be as usr friendly as they should be.
