I created a USB stick of the Kubuntu installer, so my brother could use it on any computer. He says he can't save his stuff. Should I make a user for him on my install and then create the USB stick version or how do I fix this problem?

How to save running from USB
Just to remind users and devs that Ubuntu and its flavors have a long way to go to be as usr friendly as they should be.

Unless you created the USB stick 'with persistence', it's simply a LiveUSB of Kubuntu; you can boot from it either to use or to install from to another drive. Without persistence, you can not save to it. See https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/1491...b-flash-drive/Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

Call your USB USB1. While you are in the live session (using USB1), you can plug a second USB into your computer, USB2, into which you can save your data. As for saving configuration settings, apps, etc., as Snowhog says, you would need a "persistent" live USB.An intellectual says a simple thing in a hard way. Copying and pasting the terminal output here is Waayyyyyyy wayyyyyyyyy wwwwwwwaayyyyyyyyyyy better than a blurry-ish jpg image that some may have to download, open in gwenview and then zoom in on.........
Or at least do a screengrab of just the Window of Importance TM
anyhoo, I won't type it out as I iz layzee, but the 'usbdata' probably indicates that you have the persistence thingy . this would not be found on a normal install disk.Last edited by claydoh; May 27, 2019, 03:18 PM.
