Steam liabrary seems to have been deleted

After a recent steam update, my other steam library seems to have been deleted. Any idea how to restore it? BTRFS.

Not enough info. Deleted from Steam's list of libraries, or deleted from the hard drive? Is the library on another drive?

Have you looked on You probably should check on Steam's forum to see if anyone has seen something similar.
I have three different libraries on three different drives on my PC that runs Steam. I have not lost a thing.

The library on my /steam drive, which is the 4TB drive that I have talked about previously, is still there but the files are gone. Dolphin shows the steam files, but in /steamapps/common there is nothing! They were there a few hours before.

I asked in Steam support yesterday. No response so far. I thought Kubuntu forums might be faster since Steam support is so slow. I checked in Konsel to make sure no stupid commands had been executed by typing up arrow a few times to see the previous commands. No problems found that would explain this. Could the meta data have gotten corupted? If so then how do I restore it? Remember it's BTRFS.

So the actual game files are there on your drive, but steam does not see them, right?
I will assume you have not actually lost the files as you seem to see them in your file manager.

I have zero idea. Perhaps the drive mount point has changed or something.
Does the library path show in Steams settings?
Try adding a new library and point it to that location and see if that gets you back
That's about all my knowledge on Steam libraries

You somehow misinterpreted what I typed. Dolphin shows the steam files, but not the game files. I didn't issue any dumb delete commands. How can files get deleted if I didn't command it? I am thinking either the Steam client did it -I wouldn't expect that to be on purpose-, the hard drive malfunctiond - unlikley since it was purchased this year-, or the meta data -or whatever it's called-got corupted.

If you have btrfs and have a snapshot that includes the library, I imagine you could restore it?
              other than that, I dunno.

If Steam itself did this, it is a major issue, and there would be many people complaining.

I thought BTRFS had been updated yesterday so I fired up muon and displayed the history and selected yesterdays updates. Turns out not only was I right, but it occurred about the same time as I noticed the steam problem, which was right after I rebooted. The name of the upgraded BTRFS file is btrfs-progs(4.20.2-1)which I believe is the main one. If that package has a bug then perhaps that is the culprit.

"Your submission could not be posted because the token has expired." I just logged off and re-logged so I could make sure the remember me button was selected. I have been posting about this problem for years. As I have said before, it happens on different computers, in several states, and with many different internet service providers. Isn't there an error log on your server. If there is then I don't think anyone ever bothers to read it. It appears that Kubuntuforums.net does not work as intended. Was the remember me function thuraly tested to make sure it fully worked as intended?

When the option is checked, you do not get timed out. Hasn't for me, or many, many others here. If you are experiencing otherwise, I suggest that it is something on your end.

Accusing it of being on my end is just you refusing to admit the problem is likely on Kubuntu forums end because as I just said it happens on several computers in several states and with many different ISPs.

I was just thinking maybe after many hours or several days it will time out. Maybe that is what is going on. Last I checked steam only allows playing off line for 1 week and then you have to logg in again. This is in theory to prevent identity theft. Yahoo mail also dose this every two weeks except they send your broswer a message telling you why you have to re logg. They also redirect your browser to the login page so you know and therefore it is less annoying. This is as bad a windows suddenly rebooting in the middle of you doing something because it needs to re log due to an update.
