Antianialising causing font color in Ginp

Hello, After I upgraded to Kubuntu 18.04 I have noticed a problem with antialiasing in GIMP causing a green edge on lettering. I have looked it up in GIMP forums and support and it is always pointed out that it is a conflict in the OS with some package or a setting. I have tried adjusting the settings in System Settings>Fonts, but nothing I do there changes the behavior. If I turn off antialiasing in GIMP, the color goes away, but then the lettering looks terrible. (The attachment shows sample text that should be white)

How do I go about troubleshooting this. I use GIMP regularly professionally and I need this to work.

Thank you for any guidance you can offer.

Do you have the latest Gimp?
have you tried disabling subpixel rendering in System Settings?

it might be worth either trying a more up to date gimp, either via a PPA, or (preferably) using Gimp's official flatpak.

On Kubuntu 18.04 I have Gimp 2.10.12 which is working very well and I installed it by using:
      Code:
      sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp
