[SOLVED] Redshift stopped working

I have been using Redshift for several months and it has always worked fine. Today, it suddenly stopped working. I tried reinstalling it twice, but without any luck. Any idea what could be wrong? I haven't done anything to the computer or installed anything fishy but for some reason the program no longer functions.

Stopped working again. I added the plasmoid, clicked on it, and it started working again. Weird. Judging from a Google Search, it has something to do with an update of Geoclue. But it's iffy at the moment. I like the reddish tones it uses for night viewing, less strain on the eyes. You get used to it very fast and the screen looks harshly blue when Redshift is off. At least to me. Ah, just noticed that the icon has disappeared from the systems tray. But the program works.

That might take some searching through logs to see what was happening at the time it disappeared. But that's a long shot ...

No, it's definitely not working right. The plasmoid turns it on and off, but there are only two colors. The program does not find my geographical location (something wrong with Geoclue?) and therefore cannot determine what time it is where I live. This program worked before very well, but it doesn't work at all now. I hope there's a fix in the works somewhere, as I like it. This is apparently not a new bug but it's the first time it has affected me.

How did you install Redshift? From where? What version are you using?

Assuming 'from the standard repositories', you might want to use his PPA and install the latest version. See https://github.com/jonls/redshift and scroll to the bottom of the page for PPA instructions.

I used the repositories for Kubuntu 18.04 to install Redshift. I also added the PPA (just now) and have upgraded from v. 1.1 to version 1.12. But more importantly, I discovered that the Plasmoid allows me to change the configuration file, so I went to that and found out I had to type in my geographical coordinates. I did that, and now with the coordinates correct and the latest version installed it should work all right. Thanks to those who helped.

The problem is still not solved, and I'm giving up. I tried a couple of suggestions on the web, but the program still cannot get my coordinates even when I write them in.

What coordinates are you using?

The "Locate" button will try to populate the manual coordinate fields using Mozilla location services (which can be inaccurate). If you know your coordinates, you can just type them in and hit "OK" (skipping the locate step).

I've done that without any luck. For some reason, Redshift can no longer use Geoclue or my typed-in coordinates to locate me and thus doesn't work. I've tried re-installing several times, and still no dice. The only explanation I can come up with is that some upgrade messed it up, although I have no idea which.
