    Is Klipper dead?

    Was playing around in Kubuntu 18.04 and decided to do a little experimenting and quickly discovered that Klipper is no longer to be found anywhere. Just the new clipboard plasma app. It's not a big deal if the project or app is dead. I'm just curious where it went to and if it's still around as it's an old favorite of mine and I wanted to play around with it a bit, despite it being hopelessly broken since 16.04.

    I think it was last available in 14.04, and is pre-Plasma, so KDE4?

      Hmm, okay. I did find it in 16.04 (not natively installed, but still available), so I was kinda surprised to not find it in 18.04. Thus I was curious if they'd completely done away with it.

        Part of the plasma-workspace. There are two user interfaces for the Klipper: The old Klipper and the new Clipboard widget: http://blog.martin-graesslin.com/blo...ation-klipper/

          Just found this while cruising around. Apparently it really did get EOL'ed. Oh well.

            On KDE neon,
            Code:
            $ which klipper
            /usr/bin/klipper
            $
            As rog131 points out, it isn't a separate package anymore. It is now part of the borg.
            Code:
            $ apt policy klipper
            klipper:
             Installed: (none)
             Candidate: (none)
             Version table:
            $
            Just out of curiosity, which aspect of its functionality is broken? Maybe the devs haven't noticed but could do something about it if a bug is filed.

              Klipper and Clipboard widget

              Default

              The default is the Clipboard widget

              Klipper

              Klipper can be started with the command 'klipper':

              ..to autostart the Klipper press Quit:

              Double ?

              The System Tray has configure options...

              Difference

              The Klipper has the option to use the qdbus...

              Service 'org.kde.klipper' does not exist. (why?): https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=127184

              There are other options:
              - Replacement for Klipper? : https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=139302
              - Command line access to Plasma clipboard: https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?...135553#p362672
