    [SOLVED] Sound Issues

I have the same problem with 18.04.1 LTS as this user did with 14.04. His solution though is not working for me.

I have a new video card (Geforce GTX 1050 ti) and a new monitor (Viewsonic 32" 3840 x 2160 4k) that uses HDMI from the GFX card. The HDMI output includes audio of course, but I prefer the built in audio on my mobo. I have the output going to a nice powered Altec Lansing 2.1 sound system. Everything was fine when I added the card and monitor, but when I installed OBS 0.0.1, the HDMI 2 port became active and I can get sound out of my monitor, but I want the original audio output to be used by my system for all audio.

As per the link above, I went to System Settings > Multimedia > Audio and Video, the only audio playback device listed is PulseAudio Sound Server. How do I add other sound devices from the system?

Have you checked to see if a driver is available? System Settings > Driver Manager

How about in System Settings > Multimedia?

The "Applications" tab should have a list of running applications that are outputting audio. Look and see if OBS is there and where it's set to output to.

Also useful on the "Advanced" tab is a list of all available audio devices and checkboxes there that say "Add virtual output..." and "Automatically switch all..."

Happy Holidays guys! Thanks for the quick response. Actually all it took was a reboot for the Phonon Audio and Video settings screen to "see" the devices I activated.

Perhaps there should be a "refresh" button on the window or at least I think there should be a message to the user that a reboot is necessary. Thanks again.
