I just upgraded from 16.04 to 18.04. I retained my /home directory from 16.04, as it was on a separate partition from the system files. But when I try to run Workstation Pro, it will not load the VM and reports a hardware incompatibility. This seems odd to me since I changed no hardware at all. Here is the error message from Workstation:
"This host does not support virtualizing real mode. The Intel 'VMX Unrestricted Guest' feature is necessary to run this virtual machine on an Intel processor. Module 'CPUIDEarly' power on failed. Failed to start the virtual machine."
My processor is an Intel Core i7. The cpu family (whatever that is) is 6, and the model is 26. My mobo is Gigabyte X58A-UD3R.
Anyone have a similar experience? Any ideas?
