    Epson Perfection V370 Scanner

    Hi everyone.

Has anyone had success in installing this? I used to have it installed in 16.4 LTS and could use Simple Scan, X Sane and Gscan2. But I have receintly installed Kubuntu 18.4 LTS and have not had any success. I downloaded the drivers from Epson and attaemptesd to follow the instructions without success. I read elsewhere that Kubuntu 18.4 LTS and this scanner so far has an issue that has yet to be resolved. Any opinions?

It is a bug in the SANE scanner subsystem, not particular to any Linux distro.

Comment 25 may provide a workaround

What looks to be the problem is that some third party/manufacturer-provided packages are not putting their files in the right place for current versions of sane, and, as is usually the case, they seldom update these things for Linux users.

Although I think that Bionic fixed it, users with this bug in 17.10 also noted another bug, in that that using a USB2 instead of a USB3 port allowed the device to be detected. But I do not think this is likely relevant for you.

      Hi Claydoh

Thank you for your reply on this. I've been reading about the problem I am experiencing and looked at the link you kindly provided. I am afraid this is too complex for me to follow. I attempted loading the commands of entry 25 into the Terminal and this was...incomplete I suppose. Then I looked at the file system and located what the workaround suggested but there are things I dont understand such as "Generate". I wondered how?, where ? Pity, I'll just have to keep looking and maybe waiting until some kind soul finds a solution easier for us mere mortals. But I'm very grateful to you.
