Unreal Engine 4 IDE Disables Desktop Effects When Run?

    Hi,

When I run Unreal Engine 4 IDE on my Kubuntu, desktop effects are disabled?
Any way to stop the above?
(also happens with Valve's Steam game client)

    Thanks!

I know games disable desktop compositing, or at least many do. I would assume the IDE might do so as well. I don't know why the Steam client does for you.

If there is no setting to change this, you can use kwin application rules to do so.

War Thunder does this too. Really though, if you're playing a game do you need desktop effects eating GPU time? Seems like a benefit not a bug.

        Thanks!

I forgot that there is an option in the compositor section of System Settings to disable the "Allow applications to block compositing" option .
Any application that is using opengl can turn off the compositor, since Plasma makes heavy use of it. Mainly full screen games do this, but the unreal engine is wanting to use OpenGL, I will guess.....
