Best USB Creator Tool For Kubuntu 18.04 ?

    Hi,

Can someone recommend the best USB creator tool for making a Live Linux USB?
I am surprised that Kubuntu 18.04 64Bit LTS does not have a tool installed by default.
    Thanks!

Well, you probably know about the command, dd. Imo, it's the best -- although it will not create a persistent installation,

      Thanks for the reply...
I am looking for a USB creator tool with a GUI and persistent storage.
      Any recommendations?

Just as an FYI, I know that MX17 allows you to make a live disk with persistence from within the distro itself, one of the "Tools" if offers. (of course it's MX17 only.) I'm not aware of any other distros that offer this myself, but that's not saying they don't exist.

To make a LiveUSB with persistence the tool to use is mkusb.

          sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mkusb/ppa

          Then,
          sudo apt update
          sudo apt install mkusb

My favourite USB creator is Unetbootin: http://unetbootin.github.io/

Unetbootin is a very flexible tool with persistence if required. It doesn't need to wipe the drive in the process of writing an ISO to the USB device, so I always have a large DATA folder on my USB drives that I keep useful stuff in which is still available afterwards.
Desktop PC: Intel Core-i5-4670 3.40Ghz, 16Gb Crucial ram, Asus H97-Plus MB, 128Gb Crucial SSD + 2Tb Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 HDD running Kubuntu 18.04 LTS and Kubuntu 14.04 LTS (on SSD).
Laptop: HP EliteBook 8460p Core-i5-2540M, 4Gb ram, Transcend 120Gb SSD, currently running Deepin 15.8 and Manjaro KDE 18.

my favorite tool is Etcher which you can get from here, https://etcher.io
it's an appimage so you don't even need to install it's Clean easy to use and has worked for every .ISO I have tried.
                  Good Luck.

I'm told that if you search usb creator in KRunner that bionic does have such a tool. Not able to confirm atm, but that info came from a Kubuntu team member http://disq.us/p/1qnq09l

usb-creator-gtk works fine for me and is in Bionic archive

usb-creator-kde is glitchy or broken, and Ubuntu don't seem inclined to fix it, so we dropped it from our install.

I don't think Etcher offers the persistent storage option

True. I, however, would like the Rosa Image Writer that JR forked a year ago to get K-branded and included in Plasma Applications by default. It's always worked great for me over many installs and iso's.
