    [SOLVED] After last update, some settings had been deleted

    After last update, some settings had been deleted in Desktop Effects. I liked that wobbly windows and magic lamp effect. They are not there any more. Don't know what else had gone.
    Now the movement of windows across the screen in not smooth at all. How is it with you?

    There is a temporary issue with some packages pulling in too old dependencies. Please try removing the package libegl1.

    That will likely want to uninstall kinfocenter, but let it for now. I have just uploaded a fixed kinfocenter which does not try to depend on that.

    You may well then have to log out and log in to get back full desktop acceleration and effects.

      I have lost the "Connections" Panel in the settings and have no ability to connect to the internet; the hardware appears to be there but no go.

        System-tray-settings --> Entries --> Network --> Show

          Thank you, that's fine for the "System Tray" widget but my question is about losing the "Connections" panel in the settings, and connecting to the internet with ethn0.

            NetworkManager is in the system-tray but hidden. Follow the sequence above and make sure that "Network" is set to "Show".

            PS: re-reading your question, are you saying that “Network” is not showing in the SystemSettings?

              It worked. Only that file got uninstalled.

                Yes, that is exactly what my problem was, I "solved" it by completely reinstalling the Network-Manager and associated files manually from binaries. The "solution" is not perfect; I have a "Connections" settings panel, tray ican and a connection to the internet but I have a banned symbol in the icon.

                  Did Network-Manager get inadvertently removed, which made it disappear from the system settings?

                  It's this kind of problem that Btrfs solves effortlessly.

                    No, Network-Manager was still there, I assume there was a config file, etc. that was munged, I don't know, I have not familiarized myself with all the ins and outs or nooks and crannies yet.

                    I have been trying to install a system on BTRFS but alas not successfully.
