Final KDE and kernel versions?

What's the final KDE version target for 18.04? Will be the 5.12 LTS release?

I assume it will also use kernel 4.15?

I seem to recall Plasma 5.12.2 and kernel 4.15 as estimated targets for release. According to the roadmap, the feature freeze is coming up on March 1st, so we'll find out for sure.

Plasma 5.12.4 should be the version we release with.

With the ppa's that I have, I currently have KDE Plasma 5.12.2, KDE Frameworks 5.43 and Kernel 4.15.0-10. So I would expect advances in all these versions before the RC on the 19th April.

Kernel 4.16 is likely to be released between 1-8 April. KDE Plasma release of 5.12.4 is scheduled for release on the 27th March while KDE Frameworks 5.44 is the 3rd March. I anticipate that Frameworks 5.45 may be released about 7th April.

From my perspective I am anticipating the likelihood of these new versions by the release date of Bionic on the 26th APril

Frameworks 5.44 is likely, but will still need a Feature Freeze Exception. 5.45 may well not be released until 14th April, so that is not very likely.

I suspect kernel 4.16 may be too late for enough testing, but this is a LTS, so there will be HWE kernel upgrades during Bionic's life.

Plasma as said will be 5.12.4. If they test well enough, .5 + later may be via archive updates, or failing that in the updates PPA.

I have just uploaded a large portion of KDE applications 17.12.2, and should hopefully have 17.12.3 in the final release.
