[SOLVED] Stops after login

Hi,

updated to 18.04 today, but after I log in, I get a screen (well two identical) with some semicolon etc. stuff, and then black screens with only the cursor.

<CTRL><ALT><DEL> sends me to new login/log out screen - and then loging in is just the same problem.

How can I fix this?

Try hitting alt-space and see if krunner opens. If so, type in the following:

plasmashell

and see if this restarts the desktop.

Thank you - that works.

And after some pondering - the good old dpkg -a routine came to my mind and fixed most of the problem, and a couple of update/upgrade routines seems to fix it all.
