[SOLVED] Icons not working after update

    Hi,

i am a long time user of Kubuntu and yesterday installed 18.04 new on a laptop.
    All working fine.

Today I got about 350 updates. After that my desktop icons do not start the programs anymore.
I can start from the menu. Hovering over the icons do not give the blueish background.

I checked the permissions, the lnk-files in home/desktop are user/user
those in usr/share/applications are root/root both readable for all.

Does someone have an idea where to look to solve this?

    Regards,
    Jan

The update, or installs, may not have completed normally.
    In a Konsole issue
    sudo apt update
    sudo apt -f install
    sudo dpkg --configure -a

Repeat the last two several times. Then logout and log back in, or reboot.

      Hi GreyGeek,

I will make that as soon as the windows-update in this dualboot system is ready.
That is where one needs a whole lot of patience . . . is it running for hours already.
      Kubuntu updated in 10 minutes.

I do my work with Kubuntu but need to support win10.
