I tried the upgrade (through Discover) from 17.10 to 18.04 and part way through the process it stopped.
I thought it may start up again (I noticed that there were many times when the installation seemed to pause for a few minutes), but it did not. I left the installation overnight, but it didn't seem to start up again.
I then tried to boot the drive and after the Lenovo splash screen, I got one short burst of life from the drive, then a black screen.
I then tried to reinstall and during the partition process, it wanted to rewrite all of them. Of course, my backup is too old to be of help...
So I installed 18.04 on another drive (not my fast SSD), and tried to view the first drive in KDE Partition Manager. I can see the drive, but it shows it as an unknown file system (LVM). I can 'restore' to see the folders, but not the files.
How can I get these files from that drive? or rebuild that drive with the file system intact?
