connecting two Kubuntu boxes

I have two PCs on a wifi network and want to be able to access files in both directions.
One box is running Kubuntu 18.04 and the other 16.10

I also want the mounts to be permanent.

I have seen so many posts on this that I'm getting confused.

Help and advice needed!
