Intel Bay trail and Cherry Trail have very poor Linux support, mostly sound, but wifi and bluetooth are also problematic
The correct wifi driver needs to be found and compiled and installed, among other things. this has to be done with every kernel update, as well.

Someone makes a script that creates an iso with support for many of these devices

It is a bit involved, to be sure.

Which device do you have? Some of the more popular ones have a good community of users who have figured out all the things to fix what can be fixed, so it might be very simple. Unfortunately what works one device very often does not work on another, so knowing the exact device is needed.
