[KDE] unable to network access kubuntu 18.04 from WinXP

Hi,
I have been reading threads about this, but nothing makes sense to me.
Why am I unable to access Kubuntu 18.04 from my old WinXP (Windows XP) machine?

Do I need to install some 32bit network support library?

All I am getting on the WinXP machine is constantly prompting to log in (authenticate). I can access fine from Win 7 64-bit.

First of all "Accessing by network" can be dozens of different things. You'll get better response if you formulate your post titles more specifically and on-topic...

...however, based on what you posted is appears you want to share files using SAMBA.

You can start by posting your samba setup - what you did to configure it and your smb.conf file for example. BUT if you can access it from Win 7 but not from XP, you're probably on the wrong forum as it sounds like a Window problem. XP is dead, but I wish you luck finding a solution. There's probably some hidden WinXP thing you have to enable to support file sharing.

Probably the "dead" OS Winxp does not support the newer protocols and security features in a modern Samba.

OK. maybe Xp too Old, but so am I :-)
Removed Samba (twice) and still had to manually delete smb.conf

& now linux wont access any other network share or computer. Grrrr. Win7 can still access Linux
