    Can't see network shares

I recently installed Kubuntu 18.04. When I open Dolphin and click on Network, then Samba Shares I see nothing on the network. I have been running KDE Neon (based on Ubuntu 16.04). In KDE Neon I see 2 drives. With Muon Package Manager I have searched for “Samba” in both installations and I have the same 10 packages installed: samba, vlc-plugins-samba, system-config-samba, samba-dsdb-modules, samva-vfs-modules, python-samba, samba-common, samba-common-bin, samba-libs, cifs-utilsand libwbclient0.

Interestingly in the Kubuntu 18.04 install I have placed one of those drives as a mount point in fstab and when I mount it, it is accessible. It is just

Also, I have printed out the smb.conf files from 2 KDE Neon installs that work and from the Kubuntu 18.04 and I don’t see any glaring differences.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Argh, I dislike new installs.

So they are there, but I don't know how to make Dolphin see them.

I haven't tried this in my 18.04 install yet ,,,but some times it can take a wile for the "share" to show up in dolphin>network .

so lets say you fire up the 18.04 install and immediately go to look for it , it may not show , go get a cup of Coffey relax a bit then look again , O now it's their , at least I have seen it work this way hear before.

Vinny, GreyGeek, thanks. Sometimes it is good just to have reliable input. At least I was not crazy. It is a known problem.

Unfortunately I did not get Dolphin to see the samba shares via this article https://linuxconfig.org/how-to-confi...c-beaver-linux

BUT it got me to thinking and I just put the network drives I needed in my fstab file and then I can mount them as needed. Not the most elegant work around, but it appears to work.

Thanks for your time and input.
