    Sound has suddenly disappeared...

    hi all,

I'm having an issue with the audio output and I don't really know what else I should try to solve it (apart from reinstalling the related packages).
The volume control icon has disappeared from the the tool bar as well as the Audio control (from the Multimedia settings). There are "Audio & Video" and " CD Audio" but the other one is missing.

Here are some information from the system:

    sapo@sapo-VC60:~$ sudo aplay -l
    [sudo] password di sapo:

I'm not an expert but it looks to me that the sound card is still recognized.

Any help will be really appreciated.

In the System Tray Settings: was the "communications" under General unchecked. Or, under "Entries" was "audio" set to "Hidden"?

Hi Grey, yes, it's checked. There isn't Audio under Entries anymore.

Then I'd start by re-installing every package with "phonon" in its name that is listed as already installed. That will be about ten of them.

I'll try as soon as I'm back home this evening.
          Thanks Grey
